Open-source advocate | Community Manager | Game/app developer
For the last 2 years, I've been working on many open-source projects as a maintainer and contributor. Open source and communities are my passion. People always feel welcomed in friendly communities.
As a maintainer of EddieHub, The Algorithms, Devicon, and many other organizations, one of my responsibilities are to review pull requests, issue triaging, repository maintenance, bug fixing, and much more. I'm also a moderator of 30+ active Discord communities. 💻
All of this is done without being paid, all for the community and for free. If you sponsor me, I'll be able to do more of what I currently do, even better, and more things for you, for the community, all being open-source!
Thank you for your support and being here, even if you do not sponsor me, it's still very appreciated! ❤
Contributions on The Algorithms
Reviewing pull requests
In the C/C++ repositories, I have reviewed over 100 pull requests, guiding the pull request author to make their algorithm a well-documented and coded resource for learners and coders according to our repository guidelines. The repository uses Doxygen submit the documentation to the cloud.
Improving the documentation and the code
I've improved over 5 old algorithms to make them useful for everyone, adding refined documentation and conforming with the repository guidelines. A lot of work and effort has been put into the documentation.
Maintaining the Twitter account
I also maintain the Twitter account for The Algorithms. I tweet about new changes in The Algorithms or stuff related to The Algorithms.
Other contributions in other repositories
As a member of The Algorithms, I've also contributed to various other repositories of the organization. I maintain other repositories, such as the Julia and R repositories.
Some key examples include:
DIRECTORY.mdworkflow addition in 10+ repositories.
- Discord bot maintenance.
- PR documentation reviewing (i.e.: R and Julia repositories).
- Checking out for new languages on the website.
- Help fixing/adding new stuff in other repositories.
- Other improvements and changes.
Discord community efforts
Helping other users with their questions, moderating, making new announcements, defining good guidelines, etc., takes additional time and effort.
Contributions on Devicon
Reviewing pull requests
In Devicon, I've reviewed 100+ pull requests, helping and guiding the pull request author to make their icon up to our repository standards. We have a Peek Icon workflow that helps us look at the icon and determine if we can accept it.
Adding new icons
As new use-cases come (such as logos for a website), we will need to add more icons to our collection. Currently, I've added 10+ new icons to the collection.
Unofficial Discord server management
I also manage the unofficial Discord server for Devicon as an administrator. I ensure the community is a safe and welcoming environment for all everyone. I also provide support and help people with their questions.
I mainly fix minor bugs, add tools such as LuaCheck, and use the latest API features. I've contributed to over 10 Minetest mods, all of them being open source. Mostly all mods can be found on Minetest mods.
Minor pull request reviews
I also review pull requests, mostly to make comments or fix minor typos, or ask for more information about the PR.
I maintain a lot of popular Open Source Minetest mods. These are some mods I maintain in the Minetest Mods group:
I'm working on a racing game using Minetest! 🚗 Would you like to take a look? You can choose from the tier $5 and above. Alternatively, you can wait until it is fully released.
Other open-source projects
I've also contributed to many other open-source projects, doing the following:
- Helping in issue triaging.
- Maintaining and keeping the repositories up-to-date.
- Reviewing pull requests.
- Ensure we follow the best open-source practices.
- And many more things.
You can see my efforts in other groups such as SAWO, WoC, and Community Classroom, among others.
